Lady Captain's Blog - Issue 6 / March 2014

Hi Ladies, quite a miracle, the sun does shine!

Hopefully the worst of the winter weather is now behind us and we can look forward to a warm and sunny golfing season.

To kick start the season, I'm sure you would like to join me in congratulating Terry and Hema for being successful in the first round of the Mail on Sunday Foursomes competition. This match was played at Bushey Country Club and our girls won 2 up - well done.
We are also through to the third round of the Mail on Sunday Singles after our successful home match against Sudbury on Sunday. Well done to Jessie, Liz, Hema, Anna and Sarah. We don't know yet who we'll be drawn against in the next round, but the deadline for that match is not until Monday 21 April.

It's also congratulations to the Pearson's team: Sarah, Hema, Ruth, Mary, Terry, Jennie and Diane for their home win of 5/2 against Wyke Green on Monday.

The first of the Middlesex Scratch Matches is due to be played on Saturday 29 March at Pinner Hill. Further matches have been arranged for: April - Saturday 26th @ Muswell Hill; May - Sunday 25th @ Hendon; June - Saturday 21st vs Pinner Hill @ Stanmore; July - Sunday 6th vs Muswell Hill @ Stanmore; August - Saturday 30th vs Hendon @ Stanmore.

Due to the bad weather, we are considerably down on entries for the winter competitions this year. Just a reminder that you still have until the end of the month to enter these competitions. On the 16th/18th March we have our regular Monthly 4BBB so another opportunity to enter a card here. If you are entering the 4BBB and want to enter the Ballands Trophy as well, to avoid disqualification and disappointment, please ensure that when transferring your scores, the card is filled in correctly with handicaps and signed etc.

Middlesex Competitions: Please note that in order to qualify for the Laidlay Shield you must enter the Middlesex singles competitions. Please see little blue Middlesex book for details and closing dates which are imminent. Please submit your entry form as soon as possible.

We have a full house for our Mixed Bridge Day this Thursday. Fifteen tables have signed up making a total of 60 players taking part. Looking forward to seeing you all.

La Dolce Vita at Stanmore on Tuesday 1st April: Finally, tickets are now on sale for the Spring Fashion Show and can be purchased from behind the bar. The cost is £10 each which includes a glass of fizz and canapés. Our very own Stanmore models will be taking to the catwalk and showing off the new John Lewis spring/summer collection. Come and join us, for what is guaranteed to be, a fabulous fun evening.
